Autumn, Year 758 of the New Age
Silverthorne,  Iron Hills

‘A new way to a new path.’

Dawn slowly stretched its aching fingers over the landscape, challenging darkness for dominance over the sky. Its hazy rays trickled over the African-like domain, chasing the shadows of night away. Grain rose and raised herself, releasing her twin from her wok once again, letting her beams of light penetrate the cave and warm the small cavern. It fell directly onto the sleeping doe, who was huddled in a pile of furs, dreaming steadily. Her white eyelids a slight golden colour, the warmth seeping through her. It knocked quietly at her consciousness, teasing her slowly from her vivid, jolly imagery. "Mhh, hmm." She sighed, oaken orbs flickering open. Squinting in the fresh light, Sarieam stretched herself out and rolled onto her side, grunting softly. She knew Fëanár would already be off. He had explained not to worry if she woke and found him, unless she could see a sign of a struggle or fight. But seeing how she could not, the hind was at ease. Deciding that lounging in her cosy, warm, comfortable bed would get her nowhere, though the thought was very appealing, she would have to get up. And so she did. Rolling back onto her stomach and splaying her legs slightly, the female hoisted herself up, a few furs slipping from her silhouette. Sarieam shook herself, the rest of the furs falling from her lean body. Blinking the sleep from her wide eyes, she tiptoed quietly from the den, an itching desire to explore unsated. Casting a glance once over her shoulder, she trotted quietly and quickly. She didn’t move far, in case Vista or Fëanár needed her for something, but somewhere decent to graze.
The fae had just begun to show, the slight swell of her stomach making her seem slightly disproportionate. Sarieam was excited, her first fawn! And to such a handsome, kind stag. She had informed her parents of her next step, and they had blessed the union. Wolfraam saw nothing better for his hyper-active daughter then an aspiring solider who would keep her yet let her go. She would have a map of freedom, yet somewhere and someone to return to.
And it was good grazing! Of course, it wasn’t the height of Spring or Summer, where the grass was green and lush but the yellowing carpet beneath her was still well enough tasting and enough to sustain her. Her long tail flickered and swayed behind her, showing her ease as a small blue bird appeared on a branch near her head.
“Sari!” He grumped, the little African Blue Flycatcher glaring down with dark eyes. “And where have you been? You haven’t been attending your classes!” He scolded, looking very indignant as he ruffled his bright feathers.
“Oh, calm yourself, Diggins! Mother said I needn’t go until I’ve settled.” She smiled, looking up to the familiar companion with blades of grass hanging from the corner of her mouth.
“Settled? What do you mean settled? Sarieam, you better explain yourself!” He seemed very flustered, huffing his questions and glaring down at the young cervine.
“Diggins, I now live with my mate. Now please, calm down! It isn’t the end of the world!” She chuckled, chomping on her meal casually.
“OH!” He grinned, then swooped down, landing in between her ears. “I see now. My big girl has flown the nest! Does your father know, hmm?” He questioned, looking down and tilting her head.
“Yes he does, thank you for asking!” She jollied, shaking her head a little to unsettle the annoying bird on her head. “Settled there, Diggins?” She huffed with a smirk.
“Yes, thank you.” He smiled, sitting regally. And suddenly, without warning, Sarieam threw her head high with a squeal, playfully half-rearing. Her plait swung, hitting Diggins mid-air into a bush. Snickering, the flaxen chestnut strolled over to peer into the bush at him. A colourful string of profanities was coming from the bush as he waddled out, shaking and ruffling his feathers.
“You Miss Prim! That was so rude, what was that for?!” He huffed, then noticed the slight growth of her belly. “And your fat now!”
“Actually,” Sarieam smiled with a chuckle. “I’m pregnant.” She watched as his little black eyes bugged and his beak fell agape, before setting into a scowl. Raising a wing as if to start lecturing her and taking deep breath, Sarieam turned and zoomed away, leaping the undergrowth lightly and gently.
“CATCH ME FIRST!”
I don't even know, just some Sarieam writing. I just felt the need for her, so here she is! Also I wanted to introduce Diggins, a little African Blue Flycatcher who's been floating about my mind for a while now.
Mentions of Fëanár and Visita so yup, her gorgeous mate and fellow harem-member!
